Northern Lighting

The first time I heard about Norwegian design collective Northern Lighting was about a year ago. Since the days grow shorter and the evenings longer, this collective popped into my mind again. Their designs are inspired by the unique Nordic culture and nature.

Northern Lighting products are designed by both young and up-coming talented and recognized designers. Despite their different levels of experience, they all have one thing in common; they are fiery souls who are fascinated by the mood-creating possibilities of light.

I love all of these designs but my favorite would definitely be the last one - the Seed. Wouldn't it be great to have this sock lamp next to your bed while reading a book on a cold winter's evening?!

Beauty from around the world

There is something very eye-catching about people from Asia and Africa. Since I'm from Europe and have never been to other continents, I've always admired other cultures different from my own. And people who can capture that certain essence of a different culture are truly talented. One such person is Eric Lafforgue. I came across his photostream on flickr and was amazed by the beautiful pictures I found.
Eric comes from Toulouse, France and produces travel photography as a freelance photographer. His portfolio tells us that he has traveled to such places as Thailand, Laos, Bali, Myanmar, Cambodia, Rwanda and numerous other locations.

Make sure to check out Eric's work on flickr and his home page.

Tattoo love

For a long time I didn't know how exactly I felt about tattoos. I knew I wanted at least one but doubt never left my mind. You know how people always say that a tattoos can ruin a sophisticated look and "how will you like your fancy tattoo when your old and your skin will be able to make its own carrying bag"?! Yeah, things like that... I guess it's really a question of taste. Some tattoos are just spot-on. They complete the look and well, let's be honest, can make a person a little more interesting.
